About MPD Legacy Services ... 

My name is Matt and I am now in my early forties and have had an idea to bring MPD Legacy Services to fruition for over 10 years. In my early thirties, I found myself recently single, changing careers and moving into my grandfathers spare bedroom.  The first week was lonely and my grandfather and I were like ships passing in the night. However, after about a week my grandfather asked if I wanted a cup of coffee (decaf that is... because it was already late and we would both be up all night with the hard stuff) I took him up on that cup and boy am I glad I did.  We started into conversation about his time growing up in Lansdale, Pa. I had heard some of these stories before but this time I paid extra close attention to remember stick ball, kick the can , the names of his seven siblings and every single detail. I woke up the next day thinking last night was pretty special.  It was at that point, that I realized that while I was working on getting my life back on track, I could also take time to get to know my grandfather again. It had been years since I would storm his room to wake him up to play monopoly at 6am on Saturday mornings or since he made his James Amos the Famous Milkshakes for my sister and I at sleepovers. I took those next six months to get to truly know that wonderful man again. (My grandfather) Not only did I hear stories I hadn't heard in years, stories that I had never heard but I also got to really know the man, James A. Schultz. I now saw my grandfather not only as Grandpop Schultz, but as a man with fears, dreams, passions and most of all stories of a life lived.
It was about three years later when I was driving home from work (my new career) to my townhouse to meet my girlfriend (my now wife) that I realized I wished I had captured his life on paper. I wished I was able to share these stories, feelings and emotions with my mom (his daughter) my aunts, uncles and cousins. But, most of all I wished he could have told his story from his perspective in his own words to all of us including my two daughters who never met him. It was at this point, I realized that building a service like MPD Legacy could be a truly priceless experience for a person and their families to ensure that their story lives on long beyond their final days on earth.
